(Half Marathon running)
At the foot of the Erasmus Bridge, overlooking the Rotterdam skyline – that is where the start and finish of the half marathon will take place. Thanks in part to a rich history since 1981 with no fewer than three world records, the Rotterdam marathon is known both nationally and internationally as a leading running event. This proves that Rotterdam is a running city through and through. The Netherlands is in the top 3 of countries with the most runners. Nelli Cooman and Lornah Kiplagat are internationally known runners. Did you know that runners are getting slower and slower? In 1986, the average marathon time was 3:52, while today it is 4:32.
