The World Police & Fire Games takes place from Friday 22 July through Sunday 31 July 2022 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands

On Friday 22 July 2022 in Stadium Feijenoord, Rotterdam.

5What is the difference between WPFG Rotterdam 2022 and WPFG Netherlands?
WPFG Rotterdam 2022 is responsible for the organization of the Games in 2022. This includes the complete organization of the sports, locations, ceremonies, athletes village, accommodations and promotion of the event. Dutch and international participants can register for the WPFG from autumn 2022 via www.wpfgrotterdam2022.com.

WPFG Nederland is the point of contact for the Dutch participants in the WPFG. During WPFG editions abroad, they facilitate information, travel, accommodations and clothing. Also at this edition in the Netherlands, WPFG NL is the source of information for the Dutch participants and ensures that everyone gets the same orange outfit during the opening ceremony.
6Can you drink tap water in the Netherlands?
It is perfectly safe to drink tap water in the Netherlands. For this you can use your water bottle that you received at the accreditation.
7Where can I listen to the WPFG song that was played during the Opening Ceremony?

Registration

1When can I register?
It is now possible to register via https://wpfgrotterdam2022.com/registration/. For more information, see pages 11 and 12 of the Entry Book: Procedures for competitor entry, Registration.
2What is the registration procedure?
You will find all your answers about registration in the Entry Book.
3What is the registration fee?
Depending on when you register, the cost of registration is as follows:

  • February 1, 2022 – April 30, 2022: $135 USD
  • May 1, 2022 – July 17, 2022: $160 USD
  • July 18, 2022 – End of Games: $175 USD

  • On top of that, there is an extra fee per sport to cover the costs associated with organizing the sport: the Sport Entry fee. Most sports categories amount to around $30 USD. Some sports are more expensive, for example because of a green fee for Golf. The sum of the registration fee and sports entry fee(s) together determine the total Entry Fee.
    4How do I change my registration?

    5When am I eligible to be a competitor?
    In order to be eligible to compete in the World Police & Fire Games, a person:

    • Must be at least 18 years old and be publicly employed as a FULL TIME Law Enforcement Officer, firefighter, customs or corrections officer AND must have had formal training.
    • Their primary occupation must be as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, customs and corrections service or defined retired officer for one of those employments.
    • Must have been sworn or appointed, as a Law Enforcement Officer or Firefighter “by an eligible agency”.

    6What is the minimum age?
    Age is determined as of the first day of the Games. You need to be 18 years old on the first day of the event.
    7Where can I get an Invitation Letter?
    Please send an e-mail to the WPFG Federation to obtain an invitation letter.

    • Title
    • Agency

    • Email that letter is to be sent to. (if multiple requests are in one email, that's fine. It can be send as a batch for distribution)

    Sports

    1Which sports will be included?
    Please visit the Sports page.
    2My sport is not included. What do I do?
    At this moment we are already organizing a large number of sports: 63 in total. Very often we receive requests to add sports. Unfortunately, we are not including any new sports at this time. Of course, we hope you are enthusiastic about one of our other sports as well, so you can participate in Rotterdam.
    3Which disciplines are covered by my sport?

    4Is a professional / Olympic level required?
    No, not at all. Participating is more important than winning. However, please feel free to take the initiative to put together a Dutch indoor football team, for example, with the best players from different regions. Where there is ambition, take up the challenge. But top level is not required.
    5Will you be grouped according to level for each sport?
    No, there are no limitations based on level.
    6What age categories are there?
    Categories are:
    18 – 29 years
    30 – 39 years
    40 – 49 years
    50 years and over

    Many Individual (singles) events offer 5-year age increments. Track and Field has 5-year age categories up to 75+. Swimming has 5-year age categories up to 85+.
    7There are too few participants for my sport. Now what?
    If only one person/team enters any event, that person/team will be assigned to the next most reasonable category of the sport.

    Firearms and ammunition

    1Can I bring my firearm?
    Competitors may bring their own weapon and ammunition for the following shooting competitions: Shotgun, PAP, PPC, Rifle Small Bore and Rifle Large Bore. Rules on possession and transportation after arrival in the Netherlands will be announced as soon as possible. For competitors from within the EU, the rules of the EU Firearms Directive apply. Weapons for the Rifle Air category are not subject to these rules and may be kept in the competitor’s possession.

    Teams

    1What are the rules for entering as a team?
    Each individual team member must submit an online sports entry form. Each player on the team indicates the full first and last name of the team captain on the form.
    2Can I join an existing team?
    Competitors from police and fire services, customs and corrections services may combine to form doubles and/or teams, regardless of agency size or service within a country.

    Accommodation & Transport

    1Where can I find information about hotels?
    2How can I travel between the hotel and the venue?
    Public transport is free for all participants. Rotterdam is very compact, so public transportation can take you everywhere; in many cases, you can even cycle or walk. If your sport takes place outside of Rotterdam, we advise you to book a hotel nearby.

    3How is public transport organized in Rotterdam?
    The biggest public transportation company in Rotterdam is the RET. Traveling with RET will be free for accredited competitors and friends & family.

    Please note the first/last public transport departure times. Because of the summer vacations, public transport is less frequent than outside the vacations. Check current public transport departure times via 9292.nl or the 9292 travel app.

    1Are the World Police & Fire Games 2022 going ahead?
    Yes, the WPFG2022 are going ahead. At the moment, the organization has no doubts whatsoever about that.     2As an organization, how are you dealing with COVID-19?
    We continue to closely monitor developments and measures relating to the COVID-19 virus, and we will follow and enforce the measures in place at the time of the event.     3Do I need to be vaccinated?
    That depends on the measures in place at the time.     4Do I need to show a vaccine app / sanitary pass?
    That depends on the measures in place at the time.     5Will there be a “bubble” type of system in place, similar to what the Olympics and the NHL did?
    No, that is not possible as the WPFG2022, unlike the Olympic Summer and Winter Games cannot take place within an enclosed space (bubble). The safety of the competitors is our highest priority, and in the summer of 2022, we will adhere to the measures in place at that time, will closely follow the advice on preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus and will act accordingly.
    6What will be done with regards to testing?

    7If a team member gets infected with COVID while at the Games, does it mean that the entire team forfeits the competition? What are the isolation protocols?

    8Will competitors receive a refund of the registration fee if they are unable to travel to Rotterdam due to COVID-19?
    If competitors unexpectedly cannot attend WPFG2022 due to COVID19 and therefore are not allowed to enter the Netherlands, competitors may withdraw their registration until July 1, 2022, and the registration fee minus service fee will be refunded.

    After July 1, 2022, a written request for a refund of the registration fee due to withdrawal of participation is subject to the approval of the WPFG Rotterdam 2022 organization, and requires presentation of the Agency ID.     9Will competitors receive a refund of their registration fee if the WPFG2022 is cancelled in its entirety because of COVID-19?
    If it turns out that the WPFG2022 cannot be organized as planned or cannot be rescheduled, competitors will receive a full refund of their registration fees.
